Madrid Trip: Produce New Music & Mad Cool Festival

Hey everyone!

In July I had an unforgettable trip to Madrid where I spent some incredible days in the studio, and I wanted to share a little bit about the experience with you all. Spoiler alert: It involved a lot of music, some serious studio magic, and more Biscoff croissants than I probably should admit.

First off, let me just say, recording this EP has been one of the most productive and inspiring sessions of my life. I mean, when you’ve got top-notch producers who are not only vibing with your music but are actually excited about it, you know you’re onto something special. These sessions were dynamic—like, next-level dynamic.

Here’s an example: I had two songs that needed bridges, and I was kind of stuck on them. Out of nowhere, the producer picks up his guitar and starts strumming some chords. I grabbed my phone, started jotting down lyrics, found the melody, and boom—the bridge was done. It was like the universe (or in my view, good God almighty) was conspiring to make this project come to life. Everything felt effortless, like we were tapping into something bigger than us. Honestly, it was magical.

And while the music was flowing effortlessly, so were the snacks. Let’s talk about those Biscoff croissants for a minute. I don’t know what kind of sorcery goes into making them, but they became my go-to studio fuel. Every morning before heading to the studio, I’d grab one (or two), and that sweet, caramel-y goodness definitely powered a few creative breakthroughs.

But the real magic wasn’t just in the music—it was also in the little moments that made the whole experience so special. Like how we’d take breaks and sip on mate (an Argentine brew that’s basically a ritual back home) while chatting about our favorite records and swapping stories. It was the perfect mix of work and play, making the sessions not just productive but genuinely fun. I’ll be sharing some photos of those studio moments, including a few candid shots with the producer where you can see the collaboration and camaraderie that fueled this project.

And then there were the afternoons wandering around Parque Retiro, trying not to melt in the sweltering Madrid summer heat. It was all part of the adventure, soaking up the city’s energy and finding inspiration in every corner.

Of course, the trip wouldn’t have been complete without the Mad Cool Festival. Seeing artists like Dua Lipa, Pearl Jam, and Keane live while I was in the middle of recording was beyond inspiring. It was like a masterclass in live performance, and it fired me up even more to get back into the studio and make something great. And as if the festival wasn’t already amazing, my friend Mel flew in all the way from Australia to join me. Seeing her after so long was one of the sweetest parts of the whole experience—sharing those incredible performances with someone close to my heart made it even more special. I’ve got a few epic photos from the festival too, including one where I’m perched on my strong friend’s shoulders (thank you, my human ladder!) so I could catch every moment of the show. Keep an eye out for those in the blog.

As I reflect on my time in Madrid, I can’t help but feel that all the years of hard work, writing, and performing have led up to this moment. Everything just clicked. It’s the best feeling in the world to see your passion and effort come together like this, and I can’t wait for you all to hear what we’ve created.

So, here’s to magic moments, killer studio sessions, and of course, Biscoff croissants. I’m beyond excited to share this EP with you all soon. Stay tuned!
